petrified forest this weekend

Post by pickelltree »

i was brain storming for places i need to tick off before i leave AZ. i saw it was going to rain some on friday, will that make it hard to get around up there? also i was thinking about camping somewhere than doing day hikes each days, does anyone have any suggestions for this type of trip.

hopefully rallytoad sees this and can give me some suggestions.

A friend of mine gave me one of his old maps of the park the other day. It shows his entry from the west and his route over the peak and to the entrance road - with notes. Next time I see him I'll ask more details of his trek.

I went back there today for another ranger-led hike into the backcountry, and plan on going again next Sunday. I don't think these ranger-led hikes go on all year, because the guy leaves to work at Grand Canyon.

Yeah, they only go on for a little bit. Catch them while you can!
