A couple of tiger cubs (why are they not called kittens?) have been taken from two homes in the valley, one in Phoenix, and the other in Gilbert, after their owners posted photos of them online. It is illegal to possess tigers as pets in Arizona without a special permit from AZGFD.
An investigation into the details of the story is ongoing.

Depends on how you slice it...If you cut the state in half and call the top half north and the bottom half south. If you use the word central you most likely are cutting it into thirds. North/Central/South. If you quarter the state you will have NW/NE and SW/SE. Where something ends up depends on how you slice it. To me anything north of Phoenix is Northern AZ and anything south of Phoenix is Southern AZ ;)
@BobP
I think in many cases it has to do with population centers more than geographic centers. I highly doubt that Albuquerque is regularly referred to as "Northern New Mexico", but Flagstaff is always in "Northern Arizona" -- and the two cities are in a virtually identical location in their respective states.
Geographically, it wouldn't be out of the realm of reason to say Flag is in Central Arizona. But because the main population center is in Phoenix, then Prescott, Payson, Camp Verde, Sedona, and Flag are all considered Northern Arizona.
In NM, I'd bet anything south of Albuquerque is "southern New Mexico". Santa Fe might be considered Northern NM, just as Tucson is considered Southern AZ. JimH will most certainly add his thoughts here because I'm probably wrong.
The most important point here is what the pumpkin is Springerville and who gives a flying crap where it is? ;)
I'm not sure what my spirit animal is, but I'm confident it has rabies.

Hello news hairdos! Camp Verde is in CENTRAL ARIZONA, NOT NORTHERN ARIZONA. Can't you EVER look at a MAP? You often say Springerville is in Northern Arizona, too, but it's south of the middle! Camp Verde is only a few miles north of dead center. That does not make it in Northern Arizona.
Seriously you have to understand that it is a fact that Phx. is central AZ., anything north of Phx. is northern AZ., anything south is southern AZ., anything east is eastern AZ. and anything west is California.

@big_loadApparently I should have made the small print bigger?
@friendofThundergodNo not really. You should know that by now. ;) It's a geography joke on USF. (Which is apparently only funny if you know where it is).

As I MENTIONED, I ALSO posted my geographical complaint on the news website. I got a reply, from a Queen Creek councilman, Jeff Brown, who said he was also annoyed. Quote: "Not to mention the second cub was found NOT in Queen Creek, but in Gilbert."
