Be careful and I wish you luck in your travels. In my late teens I hitch hiked the western United States and Canada. Should have wrote a book. LOL

Hi,

anyone here who could give me a ride to the southern terminus from Tucson on the 6th of February? Or who would like to share a commercial shuttle?

Cheers

Claudia

@Bumblebee
The hiking group at Del Webb in Vail has been talking about a hike up Miller Peak in the near future. We haven't settled on a date yet. But I will propose February 6 and, if it works out, you could ride to Montazuma Pass with us.

I used Ken. Costs, but reliable. He even saved my bacon on a bailout. 5206046939

I live in Florence, retired, and time to spend on trail help when I am available.

Looks like you have a ride now.

Check with Ken's Shuttle service if the hotel doesn't shuttle. Go to the ATA site, Trail Resources in the pull down menu for shuttle resources.

Ride/Shuttle To Southern Terminus Sunday, March 3, 2019

I'm flying into Phoenix on Sunday, March 3 to thru-hike the AZT. Arriving at 2:00 pm from SFO.
Arizona Shuttle from Phoenix to Tucson airport is $43.
Shuttles from Tucson to the trailhead are $150 or so, but the cost can be shared.
Car rental from Phoenix and turning in at Sierra Vista is about the cost of a shuttle from Tucson,
and Hertz in Sierra Vista is closed on Sunday; the Enterprise office closes at noon on Sunday.
Turning in a rental on Monday morning would necessitate a night's stay in Sierra Vista--AND a taxi to the terminus.

Anyone want to share transportation? Any alternate ideas? Thanks!

Greyhound goes from Phoenix to Sierra Vista (Departure 4:30P arrive 9:30P) or Patagonia for about $28. Uber from S.V. to the Coronado Memorial is showing $23-$31. http://taxihowmuch.com/route/5c3kb

These guys are out at the T/H often - if they get critical mass, they even go Phoenix to the Southern T/H. 520-237-0129 tara@homegrownmtb.com

@hikeaz
Thanks! Great option to take the Grey Dog.
I've been in touch with Ken and Tara re: Commercial Shuttle....
My "home run" would be to make it to the T/H before sunset [6:23 pm] on Sunday.
I'll sit on it for a while and see if there are other folks planning a March 3, 2019 start.

PS--I'm only seeing 6:10 AM and 11:45 AM buses from Phoenix headed for Sierra Vista.
[Again, I arrive at Sky Harbor, Phoenix at 2:00 PM.]

Uber shows @ $210 fare from the Phoenix airport to Coronado Memorial Overlook--
If I could split that with another hiker or two I'd be golden!
