That's a nice neighboor in that area.
Remember the Bull and Barrel? They had an all you could eat shrimp night for like 5 or 6 bucks. That and a pitcher of draft beer and my wife and I could gorge ourselves for $20.

@Outdoor Lover One has to remember that Alston is much older than most of us... It probably won't be long before he starts waxing nostalgic over the days when 2-cent stamps were the norm and you could get buggy whips on sale at the livery stable...

I have to admit the first time I hiked the Grand Canyon it wasn't as deep as it is today.

Re: I'm so old that I remember....
Hmmm. Well, even though GC layers are only age of amphibians and older, (no dinosaurs, no mammals, no Ice Age), clearly the Canyon was there during the Ice Age, and therefore, sabertooths may have been there. But, the Canyon wasn't much shallower then, since that was only 10,000+ years ago.

Ha! I didn't say I drew my Sabertooth the day I was born. It's just that my other drawings are now somewhere in the Golfo de California.

Re: I'm so old that I remember....
HA!
Well, I had a red Radio Flyer wagon and a red fire engine pedal car.

And I had this great pogo stick that really worked--even heavier people could jump on it. I once jumped for about an hour. I had shoe skates, too, but of course, first I had the strap-on kind. We used to make skateboards out of those things. Skateboards were not available in stores until I was in junior high.

I had one of those red pedal cars, too. I thought it was the coolest thing, but my legs outgrew it. Fortunately, I graduated to a red bike, which took me on thousands of adventures.azbackpackr wrote:Well, I had a red Radio Flyer wagon and a red fire engine pedal car.

Re: I'm so old that I remember....
Anybody remember the old Trader Vic's in Scottsdale? And remember me bartending there? Meanest Scorpion Punches and Mai Tais in the southwest!! And the greatest Peach Tree Punch for Sunday Brunch.
Anybody remember B.B. Singer's in Scottsdale? And remember me bartending there? Especially the Mimosas for Sunday Brunch, and the Dashing Darryls Delights!!
Anybody remember the Lunt Avenue Marble Club in Tempe? And remember me bartending there? The name on my shirt was Greg.
Anybody remember the Playboy Club on Central Avenue? And remember me the night I bartended there? The Bunnies couldn't resist my wit and humor so Hugh didn't invite me back again.
Anybody remember the disco at the John's Green Gable location? and can help me with the name of the place? And remember the times I bartended there? - the name on my shirt was Tony. I barely remember this one.
I didn't think so. If you can remember you really weren't there. But I was. And I sort of remember. No wonder I'm so old at such a young age. The Valley of the Sun would have been sad when I hung up my shot glass, but I never used a pumpkin shot glass - Free Pour or Die!!

Mitch Singer owned it. His brother-in-law Stephen Steinberg killed Mitch's sister by stabbing her 26 times (but who's counting after the first two dozen) http://www.amazon.com/Death-Jewish-Amer ... 0394568540Alston Neal wrote:@Al_HikesAZB.B.Singers, wasn't that the guy who stabbed his wife 50 times and got off cuz she was such a pumpkin?
I remember Lulu Belle's - a classic landmark in Scottsdale. And the poor Kiva Theater - just could not compete when videotapes hit.Alston Neal wrote:Remeber Lulu Belles? It was next to our shop, which was across from the Kiva theatre...... ;) They showed the naughty movies.

We had friends that bought one of them new fangled tape machines.
