Just curious if anyone here or anyone you know has ever bagged all 4 of the Four Peaks. Its something I'm thinking of attempting possibly next spring.

Well I've got nothing planned on Sat Dec. 20th. As long as it doesn't snow I think we have a date set.
I'm planning on doing Humphries too Pete, but I'm Waiting til spring!

Ok guys it sounds like a few of you are interested in this feat. So far three of us can make it on Sat. the 20th so that is the date set ( myself, Pete, Azhiker96). I'm still working on the details but I would like to take a group of about 6 and do this as a possible loop as discribed earlier in this thread. Anyone interested please PM me.
And Pete, don't forget your toboggan!

OKay great.
Now I have to try to get into shape in that amt of time. darn it.
I have calculated our approximate time based on sid hayes' estimate
with the following equation
SIdhayes time=3:05
Our time would be
3:05x6/7+5hrs-3:05y-5x7/6+5to the power of 3=x(+the atomic weight of manganese)
factoring in the pythagorean theorum,
with x being our time
I figure we should be done in about 6 days.
Maybe I misplaced a decimal, but, that should be right.
Sound good?

Into shape? Matt says your a power hiker. If anyone needs time to get into shape it is me! So I guess we'll both suck it up and go for it.
Nice formula but one flaw. You don't use the atomic weight of manganese but instead uranium u35. Which means it'll only take 2-3 days.

Did this in September with a group of 10, and it took us over 12 hrs.
Theres a lot of route finding, false peaks and scratchy plants. We
left lone pine at 5 am, amethyst mine 6:45, peaks at 8:00, 9:30,
12:30, 3:15, back at 5:15. We came off each peak on the ridgeline,
but from the saddle the direct line looked intimidating, so we would
contour to the east looking for an easy ascent. We weren't in a
hurry, and it should be faster with a smaller group.
You can walk right round the mine gate or squeeze through.
Get permission from the mine owner at 480-994-4185.

I talked to a guy at the company that manages the mine and he said that he will notify the lead miner that we intend on passing thru while he is there. If there is a problem with us passing thru he would contact me. So basically its a go.

Hey Mountain Men,
I may join you on your adventure .... Four Peaks ... right?
I like Kilt lifter and they have good food too.
Anything set for a meeting time/place? The parking lot, just off the Beeline Hwy?
Or ... wait till the 20th gets closer?
Sounds fun!

Hey Kenny. Your more than welcome to tag along.
As far as the meeting place goes we'll meet at the parking area on FR143 just off of the Beeline.
As far as a time, I haven't come up with one yet. It will be early though say 5 or 6ish? What do you guys think? I'm sure this might take a better part of the day to do.

I agree with an early start. We should be ready to leave the meeting place no later than 6am. I can make 5 am too if that's the concensus. The only thing holding back the time will be daylight. We'll want to be crossing the peaks in the light.

Yeah, it is possible. I've done it. It is nice to be able to say you have done it. Just watch out for that third peak!

EIther time is fine.
just post the time and we'll do it.
I have a problem waking that early so I may sleep there.
Regardless, I believe including my headlamp in the packing list is in order.
So, are we doing some trail to get to peak 1 or are we going to be able to basically start just below the peaks?

by AK
I'd say Meet at 5:30am, Depart for the trailhead at 6am, 1.5 hours drive to the top arriving at around 7:30. Hit the trail and arrive at the mine by around 9am and let the fun begin! Gives us about 8.5 hours of daylight to do this. I never attemted this before so and all of these times are estimates so if anyone thinks we should do this even earlier to allow for more time, please throw your $0.2 worth in.
For 12/20: Sunrise @ 7:26am
Sunset @ 5:23pm
(with a half hour twilight at either end)
Pete we're taking the Amethyst trail to the mine and starting there which is kinda between peaks three and four (more on four) and then head across the ridgline to Browns Peak and down.

Hey guys, here is a visual....
I think that plan allows plenty of time.
The distance being covered is not that much. Last July, I started at 9:00, hiked Browns, down to the saddle, then hiked to the Amethyst Mine and back to the car in 6 hours, plenty of sight seeing was done as well.

So what is the actual headcount.
Did the people that expressed interest sign on?
AZBRAD?
AZhiker96?
Daryl?
MattGilbert?
THeZumas?
AK-You live in MEsa right?
Is there any way I could crash on your floor or something? MAtt?
I live in the west Valley and would have to get up at like 330 or something which is a fat chance. But, I definitely want to be there! I guess since i pushed the issue of not waiting til spring, this is all my fault.

I'm questionable on making this one. I'll let you know.
