Kendrick Peak summit with an overnight stay at the old cabin (10,000')
all water must be carried in. weather will be nice, 70° and 45°.
there is a meteor shower peak that weekend so shelters are optional, but bring one in case of rain.
we are leaving the valley on Sat morning and returning Sun mid-day. carpool arrangements are in order.
the scoop: The Perseid meteor shower takes place once every year. According to a news release, this year it is expected to have the highest number of shooting stars on the nights of August 11 through August 14.

Re: Kendrick peak with overnight 8/9-10
sure, Josh. can you come up to my house at 8am? (actually, I think you said you live in Tempe, so maybe there might be a way to hitch from there... Andrew lives by the college- Wally lives in Mesa- anything to save gas $$ right?)
Were going to take a Jeep Liberty that holds 5 closely but Tyrone may drive himself and others if we have to take 2 cars. No problem!
bring your hammock there are some sweet trees up there. Here's a pic of our planned campsite

Re: Kendrick peak with overnight 8/9-10
don't actually PLAN on me ... but i'm considering it. if i come along, i'll probably get a late start and just meet you at the cabin later in the day. i expect clouds will obscure the meteor shower until well after dark anyway. oh, if i come, is there anybody who has a problem with a yellow lab? (dog allergies or whatnot?)

Dogs are good - question: if it decides to rain can we shelter in the cabin until it stops?

you and the mice and the fleas
it looks from the pics that the cabin is open to exploration, there is a spring mattress inside and some canned food and such, as you would find in most historic cabins (or the ogre's den, not a cabin at all)

Re: Kendrick peak with overnight 8/9-10
Ok, I got roped into something here tomorrow afternoon after all, so I won't be there for this one. As for the torrential rains however, that's happening today, so perhaps tomorrow will be a bit drier? Have fun, I can't wait to see the photos and read the triplogs.
