i imagine this is going to be 6-8 hours as i move a pretty good clip. also depends on how short (or long) the alternate routes are such as Y Basin. i like to start early so i have time later in the day for other things so i would imagine leaving home at around 4 or 5 would be typical.

I would like to join. Just finished my “honey-do list” and got the permission from my wife.

With your 20min Piestewa triplog you must be a beast :o

Everybody should note this is a strenuous hike especially considering sarichter hikes at pretty good clip! Hope to see all you fine folks on the hike.

You can ride with me if you can make it to central PHX. It'll probably be early since sarichter is leading.

leading? bah! yeah, i just noticed more people are interested (sorry for the PMs). 5:00 AM to 5:30 AM would be a good meeting time for those wanting to meet somewhere in Fountain Hills (Target on Shea). otherwise we can just figure out who is nearby and do it that way. I would like to hit the trailhead by 6:30 AM if possible since it's about 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours away from my home.

After waiting months for this opportunity I have to bail in order to watch my son test in an IRL (Indy) car in Colorado Springs. Look forward to seeing the trip reports and photos

Kinda late in the game but I'm thinking about joining the hike. A few questions as follows:

~Does anyone have extra room in car? Just got rid of SUV and it looks like there is a forest road involved. Wifes new sedan ain't makin' that trip...

~Are you planning on doing the 15 mile 10 hour loop coarse?

~Sounds like meeting spot is Target in F.H. @ 4:30am...?

Let me know!

The road to Barnhardt TH has a few ruts (to straddle) but not bad. A 2009 Honda Fit made it in last week. They drove slower than I did but made it in and out OK. A truck/suv is better but not required.

Thanks for the update I just PM'd all these guys I wasn't sure. I know in 1998ish I made it okay in a Ford Escort, but a couple years later in vicious mud it was barely doable with 4x4. Good to hear the update, thx
