Re: 2014: Rain, Snow, Wind, and Sun
Winds here in Phoenix have got the air actually looking semi-clear. I can see the Estrellas from Sunnyslope ...

In between bands of snow. Radar shows more on the way. Same soccer ball.

Re: 2014: Rain, Snow, Wind, and Sun
Light rain over in the basin. Not sure about totals, as the airport (slightly south of town) reports nothing, but radar estimates for town to the east up to Cloudcroft and to Alamo-Peak, have a 1/10 to 3/10 band, with a small dot north of Cloudcroft of 3/10 to 5/10, I think. I would guess my house got about 15/100ths, as the gravel under one of the treelike yuccas was still dry. Really, with nothing at all since mid-December, this small total is welcome.
Maybe, as long as summer isn't dry like 2009, a strong El Nino will develop for next year, and some good strong storms will grace the southwest next winter. We already started with blowing dust this week, and while I probably won't be here next year, it is kind of early for dust, again. It is much nicer without it.
Colorado will continue to pick up snow this week, and that can't be bad, can it?

I'd much rather be playing in it than looking out the window at it, but it is a nice change of scenery. I put up a swing from a beam for my little one in the sunroom and it's a nice 68 degrees with the sun finally out despite being 23 outside.

Re: 2014: Rain, Snow, Wind, and Sun
We got about 2/3" today here in Walnut Creek. We needed that like nobody's business. This storm looks like it's going to hit most of California with the notable exception being the far north. It looks like areas above 3,000' are even getting snow, and there's snow on Mount Diablo. This isn't a Pineapple Express storm as it's quite cold, and not very strong. Those of us on the left coast are hoping that the storm forecast for the end of next week ends up being much stronger than this one.

Re: 2014: Rain, Snow, Wind, and Sun
For Arizona anyway ... this series of disturbances is a nice break, but appears that it will end up underwhelming. Even the storm at the end of the week isn't forecast to be very impressive.
I'm happy to see some rain and snow across the state, but with the deficit from January, we really need one of those knockout storms ... 1-2" of desert rain, and 2+ feet of snow in the mountains. That's not happening

Re: 2014: Rain, Snow, Wind, and Sun
@chumley
So it was not feet of snow, but there were a couple snow plows out..past 7000 feet on way up Mount Graham. Someone said road was closed ahead, but I did not go far enough to verify..steady drizzle most of day where I was at, enough to slightly raise creek levels when we crossed Bonita for second time..I would still say under a 1/2 inch and probably considerably under a 1/2 an inch...Any rain hit the Supes while I was away? you always seem to know...

We had a nice, slow, steady rain most of the night here in SoCal. And now the sun is out!

Re: 2014: Rain, Snow, Wind, and Sun
Not as savvy with the weather sites as some, but pulled a couple stations near Supes, raining at Desert Botanical Gardens, some in Globe as we speak, even a little white stuff in spots..looks like a little more throughout day..anyone know if amounts will be significant? Is this the end of week rain early? and I hope this is not all we get...I still fee like my Supes need more rain to make it a more pleasant spring for hiking out there...

We are in a sunny spell here in SoCal, and we have Thurs/Fri. rain coming, after that it will likely go your way.friendofThundergod wrote:Not as savvy with the weather sites as some, but pulled a couple stations near Supes, raining at Desert Botanical Gardens, some in Globe as we speak, even a little white stuff in spots..looks like a little more throughout day..anyone know if amounts will be significant? I just hope some warm sunny days for my trip, but at least 1 good storm is forecast for the next few days for northern California.
