That was reply 3600!
It is brown and blowing over here. Forecast appears to be OK for Saturday in the southern Rockies/ Sangre De Cristos.

Re: 2014: Rain, Snow, Wind, and Sun
I am getting ready to head to Utah and freeze my butt off. Forecast sun nite is freezing at Mexican Hat and I'll be higher and in a canyon. Had hoped to not carry so heavy a backpack. Oh well, the merino wool goes in.

Re: 2014: Rain, Snow, Wind, and Sun
@RedRoxx44 We're heading for Utah too!
But at least we'll be car-camping, not back-packing.
Unfortunately being short-staffed due to unexpected turn-over means Tracey only has next Monday through Friday off. Therefore, by necessity our 2nd Annual 'Spring Utah Trip' will be condensed. With both Monday and Friday being travel days as well we decided to concentrate our camping & hiking to The Comb.
Taking information gathered on our Spring and Fall trips last year, adding in a lot of research and topping it off with plenty of time using Route Manager I have come up with 8 hikes! To fit them in that short a time span we're shooting for a hike Monday afternoon, two each day Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday and a final hike Friday morning... that is, if we still have enough energy to get through the week.
Tracey has to go back to work on Saturday morning so that will probably be a drag, but I'll sleep in!
Ha! Fat chance of that... I'll be on call for 7 days straight when we return so who knows if I'll get a chance to recover. But it's always worth it!

Re: 2014: Rain, Snow, Wind, and Sun
I'm watching the high wind warnings, hoping to move the RV on Monday or Tuesday from N. San Diego County to Williams, AZ. I don't want to drive it with these big gusts that are forecast. But it's supposed to slack off by Monday and Tuesday.

It will probably die down as the front and storm passes to the east. Supposed to be nice over here for wind come Monday.

Re: 2014: Rain, Snow, Wind, and Sun
I realize that as I write this, Chumley will post about how he enjoys the cool weather and it's been so nice lately.
Still, why has it been so cold this Spring? Today was barely in the 70s, and tomorrow the forecast is for a high of 66! 66, in mid-may, in a place that was topping 100 nearly 1 year ago. It isn't like we've been hot and this is a weird cool down, it's been like this all Spring, a nice warm day, at best, and then much colder than normal.
I know someone will also point out that I am moving, and it will be plenty hot in Tucson, but I want it to be nice and warm here, too, to enjoy the last few weeks have left, and also so as to not be overwhelmed by the transition to 90s or 100s. Going from 71, or 66!, to 97, is hard to do.
Well, I don't know. It just seems really bizarre that we don't seem to be warming much this year.

My wife said we got 1.5 feet of snow at the house last night. Guess warm is relative.

Re: 2014: Rain, Snow, Wind, and Sun
Yeah, I don't think I would enjoy living in Colorado at all. It is good to see that area get more snow, but it is just a place to visit in season, for me. Though there is a bison slaughtering house there in Greeley. The entire state north of US 50 seems to have been very wet over the last year and this past winter. I think the San Juan are the only range in the Colorado River basin that is not well above normal for seasonal precipitation. I guess a strong El Nino next winter would reverse that.
This is basically the opposite of what we had in January; the "polar vortex" over the Midwest and far east, and warm high pressure over the west coast. We have reversed and now it is hot over the middle east, I mean Midwest, and cool out here. 44 seems chilly for Tucson this time of year, even for near Romero Canyon! I lost basically all of my marigolds, for some reason the tomato and sunflowers were fine, when we had several nights in the 30s last month. If they didn't die out right, the leaves curled and they look terrible.

Warm but not too hot in W. AZ along the river. I'm in Lake Havasu City. Some gusty winds were a bit pesky for driving my rig, but not terrible.

@azbackpackr
It's supposed to be windy (in the 30-40mph range) between you and Flagstaff until after noon today. If you won't get bored, you might want to take the morning off from driving that sail on wheels and go for a quick kayak or something.

Hope to get to Williams sometime!

Forecast for mid-30s tonight. Hard to believe. My spinach loves this, me not so much.
How bout them impressive Colorado snow totals. Even impressive rain totals in some normally drier location. Is it May, or January?

I think April is supposed to be the big snow month historically in Cascade. We got. 13" in two storms in May last year as well. My wife said we got over a foot the other day, but the Springs didn't get much.

We just had 2 nights in the 30s, which feels really late for that. 36 and 39, the last 2 nights, and only in the mid-60s during the day. Like early March!

You were right in that other thread. Cold last night in Williams, got right down to 32, I think. But it is supposed to be 75 here today and 79 tomorrow. Cold at night, though.Jim_H wrote:We just had 2 nights in the 30s, which feels really late for that. 36 and 39, the last 2 nights, and only in the mid-60s during the day. Like early March!
