Re: 2014: Rain, Snow, Wind, and Sun
I'm looking for something today around 3 PM, lasting to about 7. Several steady hours of moderate rain, about 1 to 1.5 inches total, with some good run off, but also soil infiltration. Can we dial that up?

If you could do that, among other things, you'd be able to afford a great big donation to HAZ!

Re: 2014: Rain, Snow, Wind, and Sun
I had an incredibly low total precip of 0.53 for the first 6 months of 2014, but the monsoon is now in full swing, and my monthly total is now up to 0.84! Yearly total is still ridiculous at 1.37, but I like where it is heading.

Some parts of the Tucson area have already been blasted with huge downpours (1-3 inch range, especially over around the Vail/Corona de Tucson area). Heavy rains have also occurred around Ngales and some spots in the Catalinas have received 2-3 inches already (up high). So let the rock and roll circus continue I say!

Randy, any chance you have a link to sites saying they got that much rain in the Catalinas?

Check out Pima County Alert Rain Gauge Network. There alert gauges in Santa Cruz and Cochise Counties as well. Just get online and do your own research, as I hardly ever look at those things. I just know that since the 3rd, there have been some significant rains in spots, as reported by the NWS and local media.
Also the rainlog network has info:

According to the Pima County Regional Flood Control District some parts of the Catalinas have received over 6 inches of rain (Dan's Saddle on Oracle Ridge) since July 01. A gauge near the Palisades Ranger Station has recorded 4.5". Here's a link to the July totals thus far:
http://alert.rfcd.pima.gov/perl/1b.pl?g ... =1614?Days
You can construct your own data period here:
http://alert.rfcd.pima.gov/perl/Pima.pl
A website that I find highly useful for monitoring 24/6/3/1 hour rainfall totals around Tucson is:

Well, with the forecast for rain on the Peaks, there is no sense in driving to Flag, so I guess I'll have to go up there and see how Mount Lemmon is fairing.

Checked the rainfall gauges Maricopa at County Flood Control District, impressive rainfall in yesterdays storm. Mt. Ord @ 4.57 stands out.

Re: 2014: Rain, Snow, Wind, and Sun
Stuck in the Springs for 2 hours after visit to the zoo. My creek flash flooded while we were stuck. Still pretty high even after 2 hours of receding. Notice the flattened grass and mud line which I was standing in while filming. Normally I can jump across it. 'Tis the season.

Here is a link to the creek .5 miles up the creek during the peak. The deck on that house is 10' + above the creek.

Lots of rain on my hike down Camelback this evening. Squaw probably got hit with the same precipitation. Hike down was a lot of fun although slippery. It was a good soaking. My condo a few miles away is dry as a bone.

One of the things I miss about Wisconsin is sitting out on the porch during a really good storm, watching the lightning, and listening to the thunder, rain, hail and storm sirens ...

Re: 2014: Rain, Snow, Wind, and Sun
Quite the thunderhead moving south just west of Mt. Peeley late this afternoon, that one looked like it dumped a lot of rain. Was planning on heading out to Mt. Ord yesterday afternoon but did not like the look of the sky so I roamed out on the forest NE of Payson last night.
