Well, the rain totals on San Jacinto are what impress me. Arizona is expected to get heavy rain in summer, Mount San Jacinto is not. 2.35 inches is a lot for that area, and probably helps the forest out, a lot.

For those that play along on screen at home or on the go, what do you use to storm watch?

I use http://tiggrweather.net/wxstormvuengx.php at home and on Android (with Flash) while chasing.
radar (1).jpg
And then usually Wunderground or Nexrad for movement. They have their own lightning layers too: http://www.wunderground.com/radar/radbl ... ightning=1

I have the Weatherbug app to for backup and just to see what they claim proximity to be

I do the same thing, go outside and curse the Estrella's for blocking any decent moisture. Then I get on HAZ and fume when reading about people getting 1+ inches of rain in a summer storm, while all I got was enough to get my car dirty.

Don't feel bad. Our cars in Williams get dirty, too, from all the mud. ;)

We had a long slow rain yesterday in Northern Arizona. Result of some sort of tropical depression, I've been told. Grand Canyon filled up with fog, disappointing many tourists. I thought it was beautiful, because the Canyon walls would peek out now and then as I walked the Rim Trail. The only bad part is that I can't figure out if my plumbing fix under my RV's bathroom sink has worked yet, because the carpeting is still damp under there. It is drying out very slowly due to the humidity.

I 10 between Indio and Desert Center had amazing amounts of rain ... I have never seen where it looked like that especially in the summer... but it cause damage to I10.. the water washed out under the freeway buckling the road in the slow lane.. had an hour of stop and go traffic for about 10 miles... but the good thing was that it was 77 degrees from Riverside to just outside of Phx... Blythe looked like someone had tried to irrigate and left the valve on.. all fields around there were flooded... glad I wasn't just an hour or so earlier or would have been in the middle of it...

I looked at news for Blythe. It said that Calif State 95 between Blythe and Vidal Junction (west of Parker AZ) remains closed due to cleanup of debris on roadway and repair damage.

Must have been one heckuva storm! Sheesh!

Oh man, the dew points in Page and Flagstaff are 23 and 35 degrees, where as in Tucson it is 61 degrees. Even in Phoenix the dew point is 41 degrees.

Except that many areas have been dry for this summer, I could do with a failure of the monsoon for the rest of the season, and a continuation of this weather, or rather what I had yesterday, which was lovely. It has been very dry around Tucson and in the ranges that surround the basin. This has been good for the fires, but we could use some serious rain in the Rincons to help the forest once the Deer Head reaches it's predetermined boundary.

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY...LONG RANGE MODELS CONTINUE TO SHOW A SHARP
DOWNWARD TREND IN STORM ACTIVITY AS A MID-LATITUDE TROUGH PINS THE
SUBTROPICAL RIDGE TO THE SOUTH ALONG THE MEXICAN BORDER. THE WEST TO
EAST ORIENTATION OF THE RIDGE AXIS WILL EFFECTIVELY BLOCK ANY
MOISTURE TRANSPORT FROM THE TROPICS AND INSTEAD BRING IN
SIGNIFICANTLY DRIER AIR IN FROM THE PACIFIC. EXPECT MUCH LOWER
CHANCES FOR SHOWERS AND STORMS THROUGH THE WEEKEND.
From the Flagstaff NWS office. Reckon this is a golden opportunity that I can't pass up, and thus, I ought to head to Flag. Gee, are there any good hikes up there?

As long as people call it a peak, and not Mount Humphrey, I am fine. Mount Humphrey is in California, and much, much more impressive from a climbing perspective.

Anyway, this surge of water is horrible! Yes, if it is here, I hope places that need it (ironically all around me in Tucson and the basin's surrounding ranges) get rain, but come on trough that is forecast to dig in the from the NW and dry out northern AZ. Let's see some dew points in the 30s!!

I'm out for my days off in Needles, California, of all places. Staying in a motel right on the Colorado River. It's pouring rain. I am not sure anyone who lives here has seen rain more than once or twice in their lives, but here it is...! Pretty neat thunderstorm, and warm enough outside for me to leave the door open while the rain pours down! Love it!
