Non-cotton active sports shirts

Different manufacturers have different names for their sports shirts. Most use similar technology to wick away moisture while still breathing well. They are often expensive, and once they've been used a few times, the stink will never wash out.

Which is why I'm posting that Old Navy has their own brand called Active something or another, and the shirts are normally $13, but currently on sale for $9.

For $9, why not get a few and just plan on getting rid of them when they get too ripe?

I have no affiliation with Old Navy nor the 8-year old Malaysian girls who make their clothes. Just thought I'd mention it cause I thought it was a good deal.

When you buy synthetic shirts, I recommend you get 100% synthetic, and not a 80-90% blend (most are a blend). It takes awhile of looking through labels, but they are out there. Full synthetic absorb a lot less and rinse pretty clean using just water. with regular detergent the remaining sweat washes right off. In the blends, the blend is almost always with cotton, which defeats the purpose.

@tibber Thanks for the SportWash suggestion. My pants and shirt from Saturday’s hike had a lot of pine sap on them and the SportWash did a great job at removing the sap from everything.

I still don't really understand what's happening with people's clothing here. I've never had a stinky shirt that wasn't fixed by a simple washing. I wonder if it has to do with the type of deodorant some people use. Antiperspirants that contain aluminum often don't wash out completely-- that could be a culprit.

That depends on how many layers you have to wash out.

I've never had an odor problem with my polypropylene long-sleeve base layer. I do, however, make a point of handwashing them after each wear in cold water & laundry detergent + a shot of baking soda.
