No, you need to post it over on the nude hiking thread. That one has been neglected lately.

Well, I didn't hike nude the other day, but I was alone on the summit....wait, wrong thread.
Oh, and I saw the storm coming when I was leaving work around 730, so I drove north to the preserve. I got a nice heavy rain on my car! Might have gotten the dust and bugs off!

Well the Joecast had a 20% chance for yesterday, so that worked out. Today is a 0% though, so feel free to wash your car and hang the laundry out to dry.

Re: Mindless weather chit chat
The rain late last night in Apache Junction was so intense and so long that I cannot even get to my backyard rain gauge until I build a board bridge after daylight to do so. The time right now is 3:18 AM so I will report back after doing so. I am offering a ride along Apache Trail as far as the road conditions will allow us to anyone that would like to join me this morning. I suspect a road closure before we even get beyond the exit to the First Water road exit however. My 4x4 is currently on loan and not available so if any one that wants to drive SR 88 would like to join me bring along your high clearance 4x4. If it has a snorkel that might be helpful. LOL 480-625-1353
2.1 inches in the rain gauge..... Back yard is still a mini-lake
Update - rain was longer and heaver west of Apache Jct. Tempe reporting over 3 inches in places. No takers on driving SR 88 and without my 4 x 4 so I probably will not drive it today (according to my wife as it is her car LOL).

@rwstorm
I don't know about chumley, but I washed the 4Runner and Tracey's Fit yesterday and it worked out great!
We got .43" early am (our garden is happy for that) and thanks to NO dust-storm ahead of the rain, both are as shiny and clean as immediately after washing. We'll take that as a win-win!

Re: Mindless weather chit chat
Despite the Joecast not mentioning that 40% of the average annual rainfall would arrive over the course of one hour last night, it actually did. My new roof passed its first real test, and as always, the standing water drained into the backyard before reaching foundation slab level (though it does pond a few feet into the garage). It's the 2nd highest rainfall total I've recorded at my house.

I don't wash my vehicles, so it's a moot point to me.
I got about half inch Tuesday evening, but the last two nights the storms have favored areas up your way.

I hear ya Randy, it isn't often I do either... but the dust storm of a few days ago left such a thick coating of dust on them it was more efficient to wash the whole vehicle than just the windows.rwstorm wrote:I don't wash my vehicles, so it's a moot point to me.

Re: Mindless weather chit chat
I wash as needed to get the bugs guts off. Driving in the rain the other evening up near Piestewa seemed to do the trick to get my 28 day old windshield as clean as the day it was installed. The hood is still rather filthy, as is the front bumper area. Lighter rain where I live has put some of the dust down, but the farm where I grow my herbage didn't get but a light rain that moistened the top layer of soil to perhaps an inch deep, per my growing buddy.
I'm more concerned with my car's unusual vibrating and rattling that it seems to have these days. Not even 76,000 miles and there is either something wrong with the suspension from rough roads, the belts, or the A/C. It sometimes will jerk to a stop, which is far more concerning than a dirty bumper!

How 'bout that 11 PM deluge last night in central Phoenix? I (still) live between two reported stations with well over 1.1 inches of rain. There was quite a heavy rain from 1045 to at least 1130 last night.

It has been drier here in Flag, although at 4:30 a.m. or so it hailed and thundered a bit, and when I drove to work at 5 a.m. the streets were wet from the west side of town to mid-town, but not on the east side.

Re: Mindless weather chit chat
Louie, at the Bluebird on Apache Trail, said Thursday night he logged 2 inches of rain. First Water Road is etched with erosion ditches and the washes were carrying good amounts of water... enough to temporarily close Lost Dutchman Blvd @ Goldfield Road. MORE, we want more.
On every trip into the Superstitions, I find another Gold Mine. Today the mine was filled with Memories. I can not wait for the next trip.
