It hasn't done anything for a couple of months now, and history shows that the folks in the meteorological community tend to get a little bit over-excited at the first chance of something different happening. Let's hope it results in a notable event and not just a 50% chance of partly to mostly nothing much.

I observed several small collections of raindrops on days in Thanksgiving week. Not enough to wash off the leftover bits of Utah from my car.

Fall totals are in. After a top 10 wettest monsoon, Arizona's autumn 2021 was 38th driest, and 11th warmest. NWS reports November was 2nd warmest on record, but offset by October which was 36th coolest.

Out of how many? I mean, "38th driest" doesn't mean much without knowing how many have been counted.

USA today has an article that pops up on the Firefox page, if you have that browser, discussing the changes in the rain patterns over the years. You can enter your area at a link to see how it has changed descriptively and graphically since data collection started around 1895.

NYC broke a record high for this date that was set in 1879, and Newark broke its record high for this date by 5F. It's warm.

It's in the mid/upper 50s in NJ today. I had to entirely divest myself of outerwear on my walk. No heating here, except at night.

Not only turned on the heat, but had a thin layer of ice on my windshield yesterday.

Our weather must have gotten switched. The low last night was almost 50F. We had near-record temps yesterday and will again today.

Moonset this morning over the 'Seven Sisters' range in Cave Creek.

Saw that this morning over the extreme north end of the Tucson Mountains. It was nice. Saw the moon rise last evening over both the Tortolita and Catalina Mountains as I was driving home from Marana. It was very nice.

I prefer to think of it as the days starting to get longer. Everything else about winter is an inconvenience, except for being able to justify all my excess outerwear.
