2 flat landers taking there annual backpacking trip to Arizona for the first time. We are used to desolate parts of the Rockies. )Well, we are used to the great plains...) Looking for 2-3 nights on the trail. Our trip is the last week of August. We are flying into Phoenix and taking the train home from Flagstaff. Trailhead location is flexible. Looking for our great wilderness escape. Any advice will be useful!

hi, you're probably looking around
[ Late August Backpacking :: map ]
AZT
passages 26-34 run through that vicinity
[ North Rim - Grand Canyon :: map ] &
[ Eastern Arizona :: map ]
areas would be in season
on those maps, use
options menu to find historical temps, water, etc

You're 2-3 days could all be spent on the
[ Cabin Loop - Mogollon Rim ] ? Plan on rain.
I'll trade you for a 2-3 day late August canoe trip on the Current river?

@ALMAL
The fact you referenced the Current river warms my Midwestern soul. Thanks for the tips!

I used to live in Illinois, so I’ve floated all the streams. The currrnt is my favorite.
