1-2 day overnighter

Hi All;

I have a friend coming in from Michigan the second week of May. I want to take him out for a 'great' 1 or 2 day overnighter.

He comes in on a Tuesday night, so we'll either leave that night and camp at the TH, or an early start Wednesday. We're going to Mexico on Friday, so will need to be back to Scottsdale around noon or so on Friday.

I've done Aravaipa - but I think that might be a little far to make it back; so I was looking at Wet Beaver/ Tonto/ Woods Canyon... Can you suggest a good <20mile loop, or out & back to take a friend from out of town?

Any ideas are always appreciated.

Thanks,
Bryan

800 foot tiered Cheyava Falls

as is well known, the key is going when the falls are flowing
with this winter and hopefully some more snow the chances should be pretty good

barely mentioned on HAZ at the end of doug's page here

There's decent info with a simple google search.
Also, a great spread in the March '95 issue of Arizona Highways. Which says April is the best month to go...

Closer to home and without the permit hassle I'd be doing figure eights in the eastern Sups or perhaps the Sierra Anchas

Bryan,

A real nice overnighter is anything on the Mogollan Rim. Cabin Loop is a real treat although it's still rather chilly in May. Maybe Fred Haught to Houston Bros and back? I think that's around 15 miles.

You can't beat the smell of Ponderosa pines and the elk bugling in the middle of the night. And with all the rain/snow....no worries for water at Aspen Spring.

:mrgreen:
