We're going to be hiking Hellsgate 37 this weekend and I was just wondering if anyone knows how good the water supply is there? Do we need to pack in water or will there be filterable water there? Like to avoid the extra weight if possible.
Anything else I should know about this trail?
Thanks.

No extra water needed on this one. A filter is all you'll need.
The trail is well traveled and easy to follow. Once your near the bottom be careful because the trail is quite steep and rocky. If you have a four wheel drive you can drive down to the wilderness boundary from Hwy 260 to shave off a few miles. Enjoy, its a great hike.

Funny AK, well not at the time at least. Who needs a sleeping bag in December? I have a 12 pack!AK wrote:You probably can still catch some of Tim's beers that he accidently dropped into the creek last time we were there.matt gilbert wrote:As I understand it there's pretty good fishing down there too.
I don't know about the fishing Matt. At least when we went in December all 5 or 6 of us brought our poles and tried fishing, I don't think a single one of us even got a bite. Like AK said the only thing that was caught was a few beers floating downstream.

Wait... you mean you guys fish for something other than beer?
Last year when we went down the tonto there was a whole group of fishermen who had come in from the Young side, they swore by the fishing there. I'm no fisherman though, so you may be right. Mostly when I go out the best thing I can hope to catch is a buzz...
