Betatakin - 7-12

Last minute deal, but I decided to hit the road early on Monday and get to the Navajo National Monument VC early in order to get a slot on the daily Betatakin hike. 5 miles, 1000' cliff. Anyone want to come along?

I might! I have been there before, but it poured on us! What will the temps be? Are you camping?

That'd be awesome if you could. Temps look like 86 for a high, 58 for a low. 10% chance of showers. Not camping, since I'm only an hour away. I could cruise into camp to meet up though, if you'd be planning to camp.

The real name for this place is called; Talastima (Hopi name for a Hopi place), and the other place is called Kawestima (Keet Seel), another Hopi place.

All true, but it is a Park Service trail that I'll be hiking, and that is called Betatakin. The different competing names for these ancestral places between the builders and the current "owners" never ceases to interest me.

Rob you had the same tour guide as I did when I went with Az hikers group. She was very informative. But I did not remember everything she said so thanks for the write up!
