I'm new to hiking and have just stated exploring on day hikes. Wanted to see if anyone had suggestions for day hikes from the Mesa area or beeline. I'm looking for loop trails 5-10 miles and in an area with lots of nature/wildlife for photography. Any suggestions appreciated - thanks!

I like Pass Mountain trail about a 8 mile loop. It is not a hard hike and has neat views, not sure about wildlife photography.

Look for trails around the lakes (Saguaro, Canyon, Apache) There are a number of trails at Canyon Lake that take off towards the Superstitions.

There's the Hawes Pass area where Power Rd turns into the Bush Hwy, the Phon D. Sutton area and other Rec area (can't remember the name) along the Bush Hwy. From the Ballantine TH on the Beeline you can also do an out-and-back lasso loop to the Cabin.

I've done Pass Mountain and really pretty with nice trails although alot of foot traffic on weekend. Have also done Goldfield mt and Lost Dutchmans park all very nice. We are interested in some trails around water or creeks so maybe the Saguaro or other lakes. Any specific trails that are recommended? I've been downloading the HAZ gps into my phone and that really helps with the trail!!! Also we have a canoe so anything that combines water and hike would be fun. Thanks for all the replies!

This one from ssk44 looks pretty cool: http://hikearizona.com/decoder.php?ZTN=2343 I've never done it, don't own the water gear (kayak, canoe, boat, etc.)
