Wine, cheese, and great views
So, My zealotry for hiking could never be eclipsed by any of my other hobbies, though... I do tend to get lonely. And since I work for one of the local wineries, I feel especially unbalanced going into the wilderness and drinking alone. So, I was hoping to maybe put together some kind of hiking club based on day hikes to sunny remote locations where the ultimate goal is to make it to remote locations and celebrate with a bottle of wine. If anyone is interested, I was going to start doing day hikes on the first Sunday of every month and whoever is in the area can join. I'll bring the wine and cheese. if it sounds like something you'd be into, please do let me know!

Sounds great! But I'm a bit out of the way
Let me know if you're ever down in the Huachucas or the Chiricahuas though!

Because when I drink alone I prefer to be by myself ;) . What you need to do is set a specific date and place...then people can sign up for it. People here like free stuff and meeting new people....and more so when its free alcoholDana Ellen wrote:I feel especially unbalanced going into the wilderness and drinking alone.

im enjoying a glass of the Prisoner as we speak... a view of Oak Creek would just be more than i deserve.. but welcome nonetheless.

Re: Wine, cheese, and great views
I don't know anything about wine, but cheese is my favorite food group, so I could certainly assist in the cheese portion of the adventure.

Well said Georgerlrjamy wrote: Because when I drink alone I prefer to be by myself ;) .
If wine's involved, you need to get Nick to come. He wines all the time

Re: Wine, cheese, and great views
I would be interested, but how are we suppose to hike back after having wine? I might stumble or get lost! Oh wait, I do that anyways, never mind!

Re: Wine, cheese, and great views
thank you ;) I celebrated by having some cheese... prosciutto, salami, roasted red peppers, artichokes, and bread were also involved in some manner.. but the fresh mozzarella is always center stage for that dish, and the main reason I eat it.te-wa wrote:happy birthday Liz!

This sounds like an excellent idea. Wine and cheese would complement many a fantastic view. If you plan a hike near Tucson, definitely let me know!

Sparkling Wine is ideal for peak bagging... part of our normal pattern when I'm hitting a new state high point with Susan... I caught hell on Humphries when she discoverd I'd only packed along a "pony" bottle instead of the real thing! Lesson Learned!
