Sedona Area Dispersed

Post by ck_1 »

We were considering heading up to Sedona this weekend, intending to camp. We've stayed at each of the offical campgrounds along 89A up the canyon, and were more interested in dispersed camping. I've seen camp spots up top on Schenebly (sp) hill, but we were wanting to stay a bit "lower"...

I remember hearing the FS limited dispersed camping in the area...

Anybody have any suggestions??

I may in the area this weekend, Camp Verde area is my first choice, Sedona/Oak Creek is my second and the Flagstaff area my third. Putting together trip plans now. Planning on leaving Friday and vehicle camping with hikes planned.

Colin,

If you head out of Sedona on 89 toward Jerome there are several unmaintained campsites. Once out of the Sedona city limits camping is permitted anywhere. keep an eye out on the side of the road for dirt roads and turn down one. You should be able to find several nice camping spots between Sedoan and Jerome.

Good Luck
