day use only....only

Post by beterarcher »

Is it just me or are a lot of sites that you could previously camp over night being changed to "day use only" areas? Ex; lower Salt River, Castle Rock, Williams and Tusayan areas http://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOC ... 392753.pdf, etc. It's getting a little depressing that you can't just go to these areas, pitch a tent and stay over night like you used to. What happened to my state while I was away in California? Is it turning INTO California? I hope that the whole state won't turn into "day use only....only". :(
Understand, when you eat meat, that something did die. You have an obligation to value it - not just the sirloin but also all those wonderful tough little bits.

I've always thought, since I first moved here in the 80s, that Arizona has always had little man envy of California ...

If only camping were that simple for everyone. It would be great if they could come up with some definition of 'low impact camping' and allow that. Maybe if camping was allowed only a minimum distance from the roads, say half a mile, it would cut out the kind of camping the area couldn't support.
