"...is just another one of those mysteries...It is important that the location of this beautiful cavern remain secret because
it would definitely be damaged if rediscovered today."
I wonder if it really does exist, my best friend and I contemplated searching for this almost a decade ago but it fell deep into the folds of the couch and I never thought of it again. I might be able to dig up the few notes I learned of it if you were interested, but if really *DOES* exist It deserves to be nearly undisturbed and NOT go the way of old "Scout Cave" and "Diamond Cave" up north and all others as well. I'm sure the bit of information I know of it could be found online and cross referenced at the local library of course...oh, but to answer your questions, nope never been there sorry!

Cavers are right to not divulge their secrets on the internet. They are a very secretive bunch of people, and if anyone who is a member of a "grotto" did tell, they'd be thrown out of the club.

What? When you were like 12? Was that on your bucket list right below finding Narnia?

Re: Cave of a Thousand Eyes a.k.a. Moraga cavern
I've looked a few times and talked to others who searched. I know the general area but the entrance is covered with loose limestone (so I'm told).
It would be difficult to find but there are other caves in the area.

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

@hikeaz
Today's AJ News has it's weekly article by Tom Kollenborn where he writes extensively on the Cave of a Thousand Eyes, Haunted Canyon and the old Tony Ranch (http://superstitionmountaintomkollenbor ... anyon.html). Earlier Tom had an article that was published here: http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/t ... 0987620078
I think Tom Kollenborn is quite creditable so if he says he knows where it is and has covered (hidden) it's entrance to protect the cave, it's probably true. It's another one of those Superstition Stories.

On every trip into the Superstitions, I find another Gold Mine. Today the mine was filled with Memories. I can not wait for the next trip.

Re: Cave of a Thousand Eyes a.k.a. Moraga cavern
There is a cave near ( not in) Haunted canyon that when you enter it gets tight and is inhabited at the time we were in there by hundreds maybe thousands of spiders. When you shined your light at a certain distance all you saw were moving, glowing eyes. You certainly kept your mouth shut and turned up the collar on your shirt when you crawled thru there. Don't know if this is that cave but it was certainly creepy enough, esp if spiders bother! A few bats in there, surprised not more but maybe these spiders weren't on the diet.

Re: Cave of a Thousand Eyes a.k.a. Moraga cavern
The cave was named for the crystals (calcite) deposits, if I remember correctly. Sounds like Letty knows of a cool place I've never seen. Tom was vague as to the cave's whereabouts, but I get the impression it's fairly close to the ranch, though I've never found it.

I knew I had read about this somewhere. It's mentioned on pg. 186 of "Superstition Wilderness Trails East".

Re: Cave of a Thousand Eyes a.k.a. Moreen ther dot
Been there done than. The info about it being downstream from Mr.Toney's ranch is correct. You cannot see it from the riverbed only from the trail a little down from the Halloween tree. It is about 50 feet off the stream bed. And it is a big cave stalactites, columns, no spiders but lots of houseflys, waiting for bat poop. It is a dead cave except around the entrance. The calcite eyes are everywhere. WELCOME spraypainted rt.wall entrance yrs.ago . Have fun but be a little safe!

Me and my friends recently went searching for this cave, we belive we found it. If I were to send some pictures to you could you clarify if it is indeed the cave?
