Oak Creek Canyon Switchbacks to close for repaving 5/27/14

ADOT announced that the Oak Creek Canyon Switchbacks will be closed for repaving from May 27 to July 2, 2014. Apparently it is easier to just shut them down than to try to keep one lane open.

ooops - I originally wrote July 27 should be July 2.

That's good to know. I'll have family in the area during that interval, and I'm sure somebody will have wanted to use that road.

The paving project is now on hold due to the Slide Fire. No new timeline has been posted.
