Hi everyone I just wanted to get this info out on HAZ where I think it could have a huge impact.
The Friends Of The Tonto working with the USFS are trying to get volunteers for the Adopt a Trail program. With all the rain and lack of care many of our wilderness trails are in pretty rough shape and could use your help. Info about the Adopt a Trail program and a contact sheet can be found on the Friends Of The Tonto site http://www.friendsofthetonto.org/adopt-a-trail.html.
Alternatively a few Meetup groups are stepping up and organizing trips to tackle sections of trail. The BCH Meetup group has a backpacking trip scheduled to finish Peters Trail the rest of the way to the Dutchman, and the Arizona Backpacking Club is planing a future trip to clear the infamous Red Tanks Trail. Imagine hiking the Red Tanks with most of your blood still inside your body... We can dream. Your wilderness is being cared for by a great group of people but the job is too big. Just a few fit hikers can make a huge impact on a section of trail. I know there is a lot of passion for our trails here in the HAZ community, let's take ownership of our wilderness.

Re: Adopt-a-Trail
This entire post seems like it would be in violation of a gag order! ;)
Seriously though, this kind of work is awesome and it's encouraging to see organizations like this working with the FS to keep some of our overgrown desert trails in good shape!

I'm not sure what my spirit animal is, but I'm confident it has rabies.
