HAZIVERSARY

With the upcoming 20th anniversary of HAZ, I got to thinking about how I discovered my favorite website 14 years ago - before it was everywhere

... I think my story is kinda cool and I am wondering if anyone else found HAZ in interesting ways?
I literally found HAZ while hiking the Flatiron - I picked up a piece of paper on the side of the trail, which turned out to be someone's printout of the hike description from HAZ. I went home, looked it up, and have been here ever since! So glad that I picked up that piece of "trash", or I might have missed out on years of good hikes, and some really good hiking buddies!
Happy Anniversary HAZ!

I'm pretty sure I found it through an Excite! search in my Netscape browser when setting up the hiking part of my Geocities page.

Are you sure it wasn't AltaVista or Lycos?

I was googling for information about the Arizona Trail, and this website kept popping up in all the search results. After a month or two of lurking, I decided to join. I've never regretted it, and I tell everyone I can - go to hikearizona.com! (Maybe one of these days, I'll even get one of those window stickers!)

@chumley
If you are ever in Chandler or North Scottsdale stop in to Juan Jaime's Tacos and Tequila and a meal and a drink is on me for all your efforts. Thanks again.
Thanks for pointing that out. I still need to collect

"Seriously? 2.5 miles in those conditions is an eternity. Who drags a nice benz up that road ... in the snow? I'm thinking somebody who can't afford the payments, reports it stolen and collects the insurance before the cops find it a few months later?

@chumley

@joebartels
This guy hasn't contributed at all, but has hiked with 110 people over the 47 year history of HAZ! And I thought it was only the 20th anniversary!

What’s the multiplication factor to convert website years into people years? Similar to dog years? Is haz approaching its equivalent 146th birthday?
Congrats for keeping on keeping on.
