Campfires every night and morning to keep the chill off. Grandson Michael was in charge of making the campfires but putting the fires dead-out every morning and night before leaving camp was quickly using up our drinking water. We didn't have a bucket to gather water from a small trickle about a quarter mile away. So Michael and Lloyd drove to a snow drift and filled up one of their camping gear bins for the last night and morning. We discovered that snow puts out the fire just as fast, if not faster, than water.
