Note the extensive shrub cover regrowing after a few years. These will produce more fruit for wildlife having less woody biomass to support, and the open areas would allow for bobwhite quail, if it was here (locally extinct by the 1980s), to travel through. There is abundant reproduction, so without future fires this will quickly revert back to a dense pitch pine lowland with low species diversity.
