I'm not an expert in native American history, but this petrogrlyph sure appears to depict a violent past. The tall fellow in the middle appears to be quite angry. My recollection of the Mesa Verde was that they moved to the cliffs to escape the violence in places like Chaco Canyon. Perhaps this describes a similar exodus.
