(The photo is at the entrance of McDonald Lodge): Wendy and Gary decided to go into West Glacier. We arrived at Apgar Center (don't recall ever being here), viewed Lake McDonald, found a place to park Gilbert and since it was lunchtime, I suggested we make the 10 mile or so drive to Lake McDonald Lodge (this would complete the trio of Lodges in Glacier Park USA for Gary and Wendy). I also thought, that way I can finally have my fish and chips too. As it turns out, my food wish list for this day would not come to be

On this drive, you get very few opportunities to actually see that "big body of water" as I called it as you are going through the forest. The west side of the park receives much more rain so the environment is more conducive to big tall fir trees and lush vegetation.
