A 6 ft folding carpenter's rule comes out of the pack and serves to gauge the height (the rule is the yellow stick being held by my two hiking partners). There are 5 such equivalent rulers from the top of Suzanne's head to the top of the cactus. So with her 5 ft 8 in height, the cactus is 35 ft 8 in tall. We would have guessed a taller height. The crown had a diameter of 10 ft 10 in, giving a circumference of 34 ft 2 in.
