Here you can see the ripples in the bedrock as it drops down to the river. The ripple marks were caused by the slow movement of the inland sea over a billion years ago, BEFORE the Rocky Mountains were even formed. The river came AFTER the Rockies.
The main falls is so wide that one can barely see the details of falls near the right hand bank.
