The dam construction was a big deal for the far western reaches of Sanders County. The three-year construction project nearly doubled the county's population, which stood at 6,870 back then (late 50s). The Noxon Powerhouse is equipped with fiver vertical water- turbine-driven alternating current generators manufactured by General Electric (see those on right top of photo; like little houses).
