Probably planted last winter or spring, a young Medjol Date grows in fertile alluvium of the Colorado River Delta. These are all clones, literally, every single Medjol is a pup from the orignal Medjol Date, much like all apple varieties are grafts of the first of that variety, date palms are all cloned by root sprouting, or pups, that the date palms grow when vigorous and healthy.
