Rattlesnake encounter #2 [.05 miles or less from encounter #1]. About two seconds after hearing what sounded like a faint rattle, I almost tripped as I stopped myself short to avoid stepping on what looked like a very frightened little Twin Spotted Rattlesnake, which proceeded to slither across the trail about two feet in front of me, [while rattling and glaring at me], before going under this rock. In this photo, a very small portion of the snake is visible toward the front-right side of the shadow that the rock is casting.
