You should be seeing some cholla and other cacti, shindaggers, bare ground, and a few nice native grasses but instead its pretty much 99% an African lovegrass infestation. Makes me sad, and I hope at least that this won't happen to Phoenix. Here in Tucson this and fountain grass are favorite photo subjects, and both the National Park and Forest Service no longer attempt to battle the lovegrass. Not only does it harm the ecosystem (fire hazard, water/sunlight competition), good luck bushwhacking through here in snake season.
