Mount Turnbull is located within a closed area referred to as Unit D. The only legal activity for non-members within Unit D is deer hunting with an Indian guild and shore fishing on the south side of San Carlos lake with a valid fishing permit. There are only two areas within the San Carlos Reservation that are closed to non-members... Unit-D and area R-100. The boundaries are posted within the tribal regulations and a quick call to the recreation and wildlife department will also verify. Commission rules and regulations can be downloaded as a PDF document from the wildlife and recreation website. That is some very important stuff to become familiar with before heading out onto the res. They're serious about it.
