I added the toe cap made of Freesole to these moccasins. I wore a different pair on last Sunday's hike and found that thorns can penetrate the leather. Freesole is also used to seal the gap between the Vibram sole and the leather. Without that sealing, thorns can easily go through that gap and make their way into your foot.
