We saw one of these atop a very tall tree at camp. This tree had fallen as apparently, this particular alien cocoon only likes the very tops of trees. According to Shawn: alien pods! They are spread all over the forest, waiting for the signal from the mother ship to descend from their lofty perches and populate the earth with 6 foot long moths!

We would see quite a few more during our hike today and tomorrow. But you had to be looking up or in the distance as all were atop very tall trees it seemed.
