Rising Wolf Mountain is named for Hugh Monroe (a fur trader who lived with the Pikunis) who was adopted into the Blackfeet community by Chief Lone Walker. He was named Rising Wolf because of his habit of rising out of bed on his hands and knees. Rising Wolf was married to Sinopah.
