and here she comes, the Sinopah, with Appistoke Peak in the background. Appistoki Peak, an unassuming peak with two summits, stands above the southeast shore of Two Medicine Lake. Appistoki Peak was named by R. T. Evans, a topographer who worked on mapping the park. According to the park records, Evans inquired from his Native American guide what word the Blackfeet used for “looking over something,” and the guide, misunderstanding the meaning of his question responded “Appistoki,” for the Blackfeet spirit who looks over everything and everyone.
