I am guessing geology gone a bit wild. First some terrifically hot magma source cooled differentially precipitating minerals of different colors and composition, and then some possibly titanic collision or uplift thrust these bands upward and slanted. This based on my guess this is not sedmentary sandstone, but some version of igneous rock. Wish I really understood more about it.
