Evening before our "get out of town hike" of Courthouse Butte Loop. Our view from the balcony toward Mitten Ridge. While I was sitting at The Art of Wine bar at the shops below us I could see the pink jeeps going up and down the paved part of Schnebly Road. It was great having that little shopping center just down the stairs from where we were staying. FYI, this Wine Bar features flights of wine mostly from AZ wineries. FYI our favorite from the whites was Malvasia Bianca - Bodega Pierce out of Willcox and Clarkdale where they have wine tasting rooms.
Malvasia Bianca (White Malvasia) is a dominant member of the Malvasia family of grapes. Malvasia Bianca vines are of medium to high productivity and produce yellow-brown grapes with low to medium acidity. When vinified dry, the resulting wine can be very clean and crisp. However yields must be restricted to retain flavor concentration. Made in sweeter, or off dry styles, Malvasia Bianca shows ripe pear flavors backed by honey notes and a touch of spice.
