I spent over an hour trying to figure out what this plants was. As you can see, its new growth started from the bottom with the split leaves. I could not figure out what the top was and would be. Google lens kept coming up with an Artemisia or Ambrosia but nothing seemed to match. So if anyone hikes and sees these later this spring, keep an eye out and get a picture and I bet we can ID it. I saw this plant in two different sections of the trail.
