So we drove down the road and stopped at Camp Tuffit to see if we could get lunch. The menu was limited and nothing sounded too exciting so we just walked around. It is very rustic.
Here is a little more about it: in the mid 1910s...A few months later, his wife having improved, Charlie went to Kalispell and invited the doctor to visit. When the doctor accepted, Charlie went home and, like any good host would do, built a mile-long road to the lake so the doctor could drive in most of the way.
Wrapping a rag around the end of a stick and wiping it through the black soot on the bottom of a frying pan, Charlie fashioned a sign to help the doctor find his way. Remembering the doctor's advice, to build a camp and tough it, Charlie printed ''Camp Tuffitt" - somewhere in the years to follow, they lost one of the Ts and it became ''Tuffit" - on a piece of cardboard and nailed it up. https://missoulian.com/camp-tuffit-on-l ... 8a957.html
