There was water everywhere. This is McDonald Creek but the main reason for the picture is to show you the growth from the 2003 Trapper Fire. Takes a long time but you can already see progress. I was in the park shortly before the start of this large fire.
The Trapper Creek Fire spread steadily over West Flattop Mountain, sending smoke over much of the Park. On July 23, it exploded dramatically, overrunning the Loop on Going-to-the-Sun Road and then racing uphill to Swiftcurrent Pass.
Next morning the Many Glacier Valley was evacuated and hundreds of lodge employees were sent to East Glacier.
