LL Richardson's Geranium is native to western North America from Alaska to New Mexico, where it can be found in a number of habitats, especially mountains and forests. This is a perennial herb.
Richardson's geranium may be found from eastern British Columbia south to the east of the Cascade Mts. to southern California and east to the Rocky Mts. and south to Arizona and New Mexico. The species is not common in Nevada or western Utah.

Worldwide, swainsonine is produced by a small number of species, most of them in three genera of the flowering plant family Fabaceae: Oxytropis and Astragalus in North America, and Swainsona in Australia. The term locoweed usually refers only to the North American species of Oxytropis and Astragalus.
Most of the 2,000 species of Astragalus, including many that are commonly known as locoweeds, do not produce swainsonine.
Middle right is one of my favorites: Prairie Smoke (Geum triflorum) is a distinctive prairie wildflower with irresistible pink feathery seed heads. Each flowering stem holds three nodding pink bell-shaped flowers. Once the flowers are fertilized, the real show begins as the nodding blooms transform into upright clusters of wispy pink plumes.
