The top photo you can see that the inversion layer was pretty thick as I look south. I assume that is South Mountain area? The view is the valley of Cave Creek Road area.

Bottom photo is looking south to the Phoenix Mountain Preserve in the left background. The inversion layer was also a little thick in the area to its south; just hard to tell in this photo.
