The trail starts to follow an old abandoned road bed at this location and continues on it all the way to the rim. Interesting that this section of the trail on the road is considerably steeper - wonder what kind of vehicles were using this road. Looking at the GE view, it looks like this old road continued down the hillside from here to connect with HW260 about 0.4 miles up the HW260 grade from the turnoff to the Two Sixty Trailhead
