This era of Phoenix's Geological history is an important one - it is the reason that the landscape of Phoenix is not so overcome with mountains and instead fits the name of "Valley of the Sun".
INTERESTING: South mountain sent huge fault rocks sliding along the landscape, eventually forming Camelback Mountain and the Tempe Buttes.
